@researchremix Just couldn’t fit that all into my last tweet :)
@cboettig and every statistical ecologist we could find.

@labroides What can you read for fun in 8 minutes?
@doc_becca holy shit. mind blown. The hair!
@annacabdrew @labroides damn, both are looking so dapper!
@graemedmoffat Congrats Graeme!
Yes yes production staff, I know you don’t know how to format an arXiv citation. Trust me, I don’t either.
why is citing a paper from arXiv so obnoxiously difficult? Why don’t they just give you a link to the correct citation on an article page?
EvansSre In the time my paper has so far been in review, a kangaroo could have gone through a full-term pregnancy. Twice.
@trayc7 yup, I hope something productive comes of it.

@hmason Saw that question when it was first posted. Was also baffled by why they hired someone like that.

Planning to write support for obscene gestures to deal with annoyances.
@recology_ Except for a few edge cases almost all of those test questions can easily exist in the main SO.
@giessel :) howdy!
@jonesor scratch that. Didn’t see the stats part. How about Ben Bolker’s book?
@jonesor Art of R programming by Norm Matloff.
@ctitusbrown you headed to Boston?
@winston_chang I’m teaching two big ggplot workshops this year and want to look through before I recommend it to students.
⤴ moar coffee.
@emckiernan13 Well, that’s fb in general. Everyone’s peachy life just drove me crazy and I’ve felt infinitely better since quitting.
@recology_ also I don’t know tex but can wing it. I use packages texreg, stargazer to spit out latex formatted tables.
@winston_chang awesome. Just picked up your book. Glad to support my friends at @rstudioapp any way possible.
swcarpentry We’d like to run more boot camps in the southeast and midwest of the US: do we have friends there who’d like to host?
@ctitusbrown Hey I was on it before Friendster!
@recology_ When faced with this prob:
pandoc md → tex
add nice latex tables then
pandoc tex → html → pdf
md not good for difficult layouts.
Also super excited to meet various internet friends (from the open science, software carpentry world) in real life this week.
I love weeks like this. Incredibly busy but good busy. Every little thing requiring my attention is super exciting. #yayscience
@feltron I hope you’re able to do one in the bay area sometime. I’ve followed your work for a long time — it would be an absolute treat.
@feltron Do you ever do ones locally?
@fonnesbeck hah. Our workflows are very similar.
@punkish halting all computery away for the evening.
@recology_ If the table came from a csv then use read it in and print with pander::pandoc.table(df) to render it correctly.
@recology_ How are your tables formatted? Might be a small formatting issue that’s keeping it from getting parsed.
@profjsb add that to the ipython notebooks list on the github repo ;)
@gvwilson hopefully you’ll share the war stories with us.
I have 14 different email drafts open and have a feeling that my landlady is going to get a proposal and my collaborator a plumbing invoice.
@recology_ crowd funding (IMO) on the scale of individual scientists cannot raise salaries. So no, I don’t think this alone is sustainable.
@ethanwhite My mental image after reading that tweet. You and Morgan managing a lab full of tiny ecologists. wee little ecologists.

@distribecology no. that’s seems reasonable for most journals.

@eperlste I can’t go but will you pick up an extra one for me? If they haven’t run out of the cool ones, I’ll take Marburg.
@yoavram ok, will do
@kevkoy hey! Still at the meeting. But will get in touch soon.
@robinkraft issue resolved!
@JacquelynGill most times I’m awake. So yes.
@kara_woo install think up. Or download your data and visualize it with R.
@tpoi our plos bio paper is in! Just some small editorial revisions.

Just had a fantastic conversation with the best collaborator ever. Awesome progress on science is a great way to beat the blues.
@recology_ But no time today. If you can wait till weekend, I can do it then.
@recology_ I have access but that moronic publisher only has individual page images, no pdf. Can screenprint each one to pdf then combine.
Sundry It is so awesome and so awful not having an office to go to. Like, both things. At the same time. Always.
rgfitzjohn It’s 2013: why do we still separate figures from their captions for manuscript submission? Painful for authors and painful for reviewers.

@FuSchmu beats Dear Firstname Lastname,
We are delighted to …
DrLabRatOry I just realized I would make more over the summer if I got an undergraduate research fellowship than if I taught two classes. I need a beer.
@TrestleJeff Yep, bet they are littered with API keys and dbase passwords. One of my interns did that.
@eperlste so true. Just tried to write something for public consumption and bored myself to tears while reading the draft.
@figshare question: Are the view counts just page views? If I hit refresh from 5 different browsers does that count as 5 views?
@JacquelynGill Thanks for writing this, Jacquelyn. Wish I had more time/energy to respond but glad you did.
@brookeborel Just heard the podcast. Glad Lorenzo is ok!
@kj_gilbert what are these objects? List?
@labroides they do indeed. Replaced my old kindle case at no charge.
@jess_carilli yep! “Haven’t you had enough fun postdocing? It’s really time to take that faculty job and settle down”. um, yes mom.
Hardcover + prime cheaper than kindle edition? Well played, amazon.
@jess_carilli if its any consolation, we’re all in the same boat.
Craigslist missed connections in red states happen at Walmart. 24 hour fitness for Cali. wtf Indiana. Hilarious.
@distribecology and scrolling through the digest with the poorly quoted email is a nightmare.
@brookeborel cute puppy! I’d play with him/her
@shaenasaurus and cite alongside refs for the more substantial ones.
@shaenasaurus I suppose you could go either way. I do both (sometimes in same article). Inline for less important stuff. 1/2
@eperlste You’ll be ok. No drunk dialing or standing outside academia’s bedroom window holding a boombox.
@Protohedgehog Don’t you mean right now? All those clubs should have the word “novelty” written on them.
@gvwilson Worked well on Chrome for me. Firefox had problems early on but author claims they’ve been fixed.
@labroides mazel too!
Unsolicited praise for an article I’m writing in the open from a journal editor. With an invitation to submit. +1 for open science.
@cjlortie noted. ;)
@hadleywickham Looks great! and before I could even clone and send a pull request! ;)
Interesting new package builds nicely formatted html reports from R.
@hadleywickham The toc on the wiki home page could be transferred to _Sidebar.md and that would make it available on all pages.
@hadleywickham Looking forward to grabbing a copy as soon as it’s out!
@hadleywickham Is this the book that existed as the devtools wiki?
@hadleywickham I just read his book but forgot that he’s a prolific blogger. Thanks for the ↬ on this post. What book are you working on?
@noahWG I can’t take you seriously without an old fashioned cocktail in your hand.

@larysar or is this sublime text related?
suggestions for folks to interview on @eebtools are most welcome. Send a tweet or email (interviews at eebtools org)
@TheAtavism Yes indeed :) too much to fit into a tweet!
Excited to launch @eebtools, interviews with ecologists (and other folks) about the tools they use to do science. bit.ly/W0GJxu

biorhythmist I print out all my @-replies and send them to my Mom to show her I have friends.
@labroides I’m so appalled. Opera is the fastest, most light-weight browser there is. Can’t believe I follow a luddite.
@JacquelynGill haha. Wish that were a real hash tag, like icanhazpdf. Here, I just paypaled you 25k.
