@hmason Saw that question when it was first posted. Was also baffled by why they hired someone like that.

Planning to write support for obscene gestures to deal with annoyances.
@recology_ Except for a few edge cases almost all of those test questions can easily exist in the main SO.
@recology_ out of curiosity, what niche does it fill that cannot be accommodated in other SOs? #playingdevilsadvocate
@srsupp I hope @ethanwhite DMs you a PhD in response to that request.
@giessel :) howdy!

@noahWG @edyong209 @LizNeeley Nope, still here. I use Reeder and that Google Reader makes it infinitely more bearable.
@trayc7 Nice to meet you today. Pretty much every day my world keeps getting smaller. cc/ @carlystrasser
@jonesor scratch that. Didn’t see the stats part. How about Ben Bolker’s book?
@jonesor Art of R programming by Norm Matloff.
AdviceToWriters I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

@noamross Just email them. They are fine with it (its just not obvious on the site). cc/ @johndbritton
@recology_ also I don’t know tex but can wing it. I use packages texreg, stargazer to spit out latex formatted tables.
@winston_chang awesome. Just picked up your book. Glad to support my friends at @rstudioapp any way possible.
swcarpentry We'd like to run more boot camps in the southeast and midwest of the US: do we have friends there who'd like to host?
@ctitusbrown Hey I was on it before Friendster!
@recology_ When faced with this prob:
pandoc md → tex
add nice latex tables then
pandoc tex → html → pdf
md not good for difficult layouts.
Also super excited to meet various internet friends (from the open science, software carpentry world) in real life this week.
I love weeks like this. Incredibly busy but good busy. Every little thing requiring my attention is super exciting. #yayscience
@feltron I hope you’re able to do one in the bay area sometime. I’ve followed your work for a long time -- it would be an absolute treat.
@feltron Do you ever do ones locally?

@JacquelynGill @LizNeeley @jebyrnes I’m going to wear my scientist shirt more often now if that’s what it takes to scare people away.
@LizNeeley @JacquelynGill @jebyrnes Not disputing that point. Even outside of this context it’s imp. for us to take charge of our identities
@LizNeeley @JacquelynGill @jebyrnes author is on twitter. Said public perceive us as scary so she showcased the sexy ones to do us a favor.
@fonnesbeck hah. Our workflows are very similar.
